One of the advantages of Protrader 2 Desktop is linking panels. When panels are linked, selecting an instrument in one of the panels synchronizes other panels in the group to display information relevant to that instrument. For example, when you have an Order Entry panel linked to a Watchlist panel, the instrument displayed in the Order Entry panel will be changed in accordance with the instrument selected in the Watchlist.
Each link is identified by a color: gray, red, yellow, green, black, blue, or brown, which means you can have up to 6 links in a Workspace.
To enable color linking, select the arrow in the upper right hand corner of Desktop. Now, panels will have a link button in their headers, to the left of the usual window management buttons.
Setting Up Links
To link two or more panels together:
You can also link all panels in the Workspace by selecting a color and clicking Link to All.
To unlink a panel from a group, click the panel's Link icon and select Unlink.
Using the Color Links Toolbar
Protrader Desktop must be restarted after enabling color linking in Settings for the Color Links toolbar to become available.
Using this toolbar, it is possible to change the instrument that's shown by a linked group. First, select the instrument in the links toolbar; if necessary, choose an account. Now click the checkmark icon to assign the color, account, and instrument to all open windows.
All panels in the linked group (here, Yellow) now display the selected symbol (here, EUR/USD:GFT).
